Family Owned and Operated
Piedmont Ridge Farm is a third generation family farm located in northern harford county mayland. The farm has been in our family since 1948. Originally a dairy farm our operation now consists of a beef cattle and small grains. We work in cooperation with other neighbors to produce all natural beef which is distributed through small wholesalers in the mid atlantic region. We believe strongly in the preservation of farmland. Our grandfather placed our farm inpermanent ag preservation in the early 1980's.We also employ many conservation practices and have participated in both state and federal programs aimed at preserving our natural resources. We believe that both our land and animals are our most valuable possessions and believe in caring for them with the highest of standards.
Our Farm
Since the 1980s, our land has been permanently registered in the Maryland Agricultural Preservation Program. Our grandfather, Charles Birch felt strongly about keeping the land for agricultural use and preserving it for future generations. Today, we continue his mission by using conservation practices in our farming operation. Working closely with the Maryland Department of Agriculture, we employ proper management strategies that optimize the sustainability of the Chesapeake Bay. We have invested heavily in "Save the Bay" programs and practice in green farming techniques as much as possible. We also run a full line of modern equipment that improves our fuel consumption and reduces our carbon footprint.
